It is with a heart filled with immense sadness that I inform you of the death of Daniel Schlosser, our friend and President. Daniel died suddenly on May 31, 2024 in Lyon at the age of 67 and was buried in Altwiller in Alsace, in his native village. The departure of Daniel left an immeasurable void for his family and loved ones. Our thoughts go to his wife Dominique, whom we will accompany endlessly and with sincere friendship during the ordeal of mourning.
Daniel had followed our work since 2011 and joined the board of directors in June 2019 before becoming President of 3IS in March 2023. Daniel fell in love with what we were doing at 3IS from our first meeting in Haiti 13 years ago where we were testing new communication technologies in areas with limited communication access. Always curious and passionate about science, mathematics, artificial intelligence but above all geopolitics, this career diplomat and professor of mathematics provided essential support to our organization. https://lnkd.in/e7GgJW6n
Daniel leaves us all orphans. His tenacity, his rage against slander, liars and cowards made him an upright, honest, and intellectually powerful man. We will miss him as president, we will miss him desperately as a friend and mentor.
Daniel had just retired last January and should have had time to get more involved with us, unfortunately, it’s always the best who leave first as the fatal saying goes!
Thank you for joining me and the entire team in this tribute to this great man, just, altruistic, who was always filled with generosity and love.
Daniel, I cry for you, as I cried for a father! We, at 3iS, will continue your struggles and your passions in your name! Rest in Peace my friend!
