Kibrewosen Zewdu Belay

Remote Sensing and Hydrology Expert

Kibrewosen Zewdu Belay is a Remote Sensing and Hydrology Expert at iMMAP Iraq. In his current position, he leads the project team and provides technical support and advice to the NCWRM. He also leads the assessment of the existing IM system and develops and delivers GIS, remote sensing, and hydrological modeling training packages.

Prior to joining iMMAP, Kibrewosen worked as a Lecturer and Researcher in Hydroinformatics at the University of Gondar in Ethiopia for eight years. His main activities and responsibilities included lecturing GIS and Remote Sensing, software's in hydraulic engineering courses, and training Hydraulic Engineering Msc. Students on the application of Python in computational hydraulics. He also worked as a Dereja Academy Accelerator Program (DAAP) Training Facilitator at Info Mind Solutions (Dereja.com) for 8 months, delivering training that focuses on building fresh graduate's soft and professional skills aiming at producing high caliber professionals for the Ethiopian job market.

Kibrewosen also has experience as a GIS Expert at ABEK Business Group, where he collected, processed, and interpreted spatial data, prepared maps based on the scope of consultancy work and standards of cartography, and compiled and wrote inception, field, and final reports for consulting works in Hydrology and Remote Sensing.

Kibrewosen holds a Master of Science in Hydroinformatics from IHE Delft Institute for Water Education and a Bachelor of Science in Hydraulic and Water Resources from Engineering ArbaMinch University in Ethiopia. He is fluent in Amharic and English.
