Samson turns complexity into clarity. With over a decade of experience across the humanitarian and development sectors, he specializes in transforming raw, fragmented data into the maps, dashboards, and reports that humanitarian teams rely on to make fast, informed decisions in high-stakes environments.
At 3iS, Samson leads the Capacity Building Pillar, guiding a team of Information Management Officers who strengthen the IM skills of local and national organizations across Ethiopia — from early warning and anticipatory action systems to the day-to-day tools that keep humanitarian response running. Before joining 3iS, he was seconded to UNICEF’s WASH Cluster, where he led data collection, analysis, and dissemination during large-scale drought response operations, adding to a career built across multiple sectors and response contexts.
Samson’s technical range spans database design, geospatial analysis and mapping, and data-driven reporting — but he sees capacity building as the multiplier: strong humanitarian response depends not just on good data, but on the people equipped to use it well. He regularly designs and delivers training that puts critical IM skills directly into the hands of the organizations who need them most.
He is fluent in English, Amharic, and Afaan Oromo, and holds an MSc in Geomatics, an MA in Project Management, and a BSc in Geoinformatics.
