Sandrine Jauffret

Sandrine is a seasoned Senior Natural Resources Management Specialist at the World Bank, holding a PhD in Plant Ecology and over 25 years of expertise in sustainable land and forest management, landscape restoration, biodiversity conservation, and the blue economy, primarily in North and West Africa.

Since joining the World Bank in March 2021, she has led significant technical assistance projects in the Middle East and Northern Africa, including marine spatial planning in Morocco, a blue economy roadmap in Tunisia, and sustainable forest management initiatives in Algeria and Lebanon. She also contributed to the design and implementation of projects related to Blue economy, natural resource management, climate change adaptation and resilience focusing on key ecosystems such as coastal areas and oasis in Morocco and Tunisia, forests in Lebanon. Previously, Sandrine led global land degradation neutrality efforts at the UN Convention to Combat Desertification, overseeing development projects in over 70 countries. She has also worked with various institutions, including the Sahara and Sahel Observatory and in the private sector, focusing on drylands and landscape restoration.

Fluent in French and English, with working proficiency in Spanish, Sandrine relocated from Washington D.C. to Republic of Congo and began her new assignment at Brazzaville’s WB Country Office in the Environment Department of the Western and Central Africa Region (SAWEO) on July 1, 2025.
