Abubakar Muhammad Abubakar, is a dedicated humanitarian and development professional with over 9 years of experience in coordination, project management, and advocacy in crisis-affected communities in Nigeria.

Abubakar hold’s a Master’s in International Affairs and Diplomacy from Ahmadu Bello University and a Bachelor’s in Science Education from Federal University Kashere, he has built his career across key organizations including UNOCHA, Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC), Norwegian Church Aid, and International Medical Corps (IMC), primarily in Borno and Yobe States.

Most recently, Abubakar served as Humanitarian Affairs Officer and Acting Head of Sub-office at the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) in Damaturu, Yobe State, where he led inter-agency coordination across 17 LGAs, co-led the Yobe Cash Working Group, facilitates civil-military access negotiations, support Nigeria Humanitarian Program Cycle process, and strengthens government partnerships to ensure timely responses to displacement, floods, and outbreaks.

Driven by a deep commitment to humanity and a passion for alleviating suffering, he excels in high-pressure, high-risk environments, leading strategic humanitarian responses, fostering partnerships with governments, UN agencies, NGOs, and communities, mobilizing resources, and ensuring evidence-based, culturally sensitive programming aligned with humanitarian principles. In his free time, he enjoys reading and playing badminton.
