To calculate the Population in Need (PiN) in Ecuador, the first version of the global Joint and Intersectoral Analysis Framework (JIAF) methodology was used, adapted to the local context and data availability for each sector, considering risk, vulnerability, and/or impact according to each indicator. Twenty-one indicators were identified, six of which were used to construct indices, all aligned with those proposed in the global tables for sectoral interoperability of PiN severity. Official and proprietary data (3iS) on internal displacement were used, and recommendations from humanitarian actors and sectoral leaders were integrated to identify the severity and criticality of geographical areas. Finally, the calculation used fundamental statistical operations in this type of exercise.
