Scope of Work
The ANTICIPA initiative is a groundbreaking project designed to transform humanitarian response by leveraging advanced AI. By fusing formal data with community-sourced intelligence into a comprehensive knowledge graph, ANTICIPA utilizes AI agents to provide non-technical users with actionable insights, risk analysis, and critical decision support directly through common messaging apps.
The Intern Liaison will support the ANTICIPA Humanitarian Coordinator in Nigeria, acting as a critical bridge between the humanitarian community and local institutions in Sokoto. The selected candidate will contribute to the strategic adoption, contextualization, and successful implementation of the ANTICIPA platform within the local humanitarian ecosystem.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of the humanitarian context in Sokoto and fluency in English, Hausa, and Fulfulde. Additionally, the candidate should demonstrate strong digital literacy and familiarity with digital platforms, particularly conversational AI tools such as chatbots.
Description of Duties
Community Mobilization & Platform Adoption
- Support community mobilization and awareness activities to promote understanding and adoption of the ANTICIPA platform at grassroots level.
- Organize and facilitate sensitization sessions with community members and leaders to introduce the chatbot and its functions.
- Assist users in registration and guide them on reporting hazards, sending photos or voice notes, and receiving alerts and preparedness information.
- Conduct outreach activities including door-to-door engagement, small group discussions, and community demonstrations.
Technical Support & Data Collection
- Troubleshoot basic user technical issues and escalate complex challenges to the technical team.
- Support testing of newly introduced chatbot features and provide feedback on usability and accessibility.
- Support community-based data collection initiatives contributing to the ANTICIPA knowledge system.
Capacity Building & Training
- Support training sessions for community leaders, volunteers, and first responders on the use of ANTICIPA and its advanced functions.
- Support the design and delivery of workshops and training programs for local institutions, authorities, and community actors.
Community Engagement
- Support the Humanitarian Coordinator in developing a comprehensive community engagement strategy for ANTICIPA in Sokoto.
- Ensure a people-centered approach in platform implementation and community interaction.
Operational Compliance
- Ensure activities align with 3iS operational, procurement, financial, and security regulations.
- Coordinate closely with the Humanitarian Coordinator during implementation.
Requirements
Education
University degree or final semester studies in International Relations, Humanitarian Affairs, Economics, Data Science, Information Management, Computer Science, or related field.
Candidates must be from Sokoto.
Languages
- Fluency in English.
- Professional working proficiency in Hausa and Fulfulde.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year of professional experience in the humanitarian sector, preferably in Nigeria and Sokoto.
- Previous collaboration with UN agencies, INGOs, and NGOs is desirable.
- Experience in community engagement, participatory assessments, and workshops with vulnerable populations.
- Experience in data analysis and information management products such as situation reports, maps, and dashboards.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong understanding of humanitarian program cycles, coordination systems, and stakeholders.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to synthesize qualitative and quantitative data into actionable insights.
- Practical understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), cloud computing principles, and database management.
- Certifications or verified courses on Google Cloud Platform (GCP) are a strong asset.
