GLOBAL PROJECTS

Ongoing Projects

In June 2025, out of nearly 3,000 applicants, 3iS was one of 20 social impact organizations selected to receive funding, technical training and dedicated expertise with support from Google.org experts as part of the Google.org Accelerator: Generative AI. 3iS’ Agentic Risk & Environmental Management System (AREMS) is an intelligent multi-agent AI system backed by Google Cloud Platform and designed around community engagement.

AREMS will allow for enhanced data-driven decision-making for humanitarian organizations and local authorities, alongside increased community resilience and ownership stemming from the co-creation of risk knowledge and chatbot-facilitated capacity building.

3iS will pilot AREMS in Colombia, Ethiopia and Nigeria with the below expected impact:
• Support to 600+ humanitarian NGOs, CSOs, and local authorities;
• Direct beneficiaries of 300K+ people within the first 18 months and 600K+ people within 36 months of implementation; and
• Targeted 65% improvement in knowledge and skills for risk management among users.

As of March 2023, 3iS has served as a Product Owner for GeoApps for the Mapping Team at the MSF GIS Centre in Switzerland. MSF has been using GIS as a value-added support and service to its operations since 2012, which is now being coordinated by the GIS Centre, producing maps and GeoApps to support field operations, while working within an Agile framework.

As Product Owner, 3iS has two key objectives: maximizing the value of GIS products for end users and fostering GIS practices harmonization across the network. In this role, 3iS ensures value delivery through functional design and quality assurance for GeoApps, capitalizing on successful implementations, including referential layer creation, security GeoApps harmonization, and integration with health context tools to support informed decision making of the missions.

Past Performance

In July 2024, 3iS received in-kind Amazon Web Services (AWS) credits through the AWS Health Equity Initiative to use AWS cloud technology to make a difference in the health and lives of underserved populations, especially in Latin America and Ethiopia. It was through this initiative that 3iS was able to spreadhead its progress in artificial intelligence.

3iS created an assistant platform called Compass that used Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) and a data procesing pipeline to ingest humanitarian reports from ReliefWeb and used  embedding models to create a comprehensive humanitarian knowledge base. This allowed the system to summarize humanitarian reports, facilitate needs and anticipatory analysis.

3iS also further developed its Anticipa Chatbot that provides trainings to NGOs and CSOs on risk management and anticipatory action. The new version integrated nine different AWS services such as the interaction with Large Language Models, targeted training modules per user, and integrated WhatsApp features like embedded surveys, among others.
