This decision, confirmed in early March 2025, follows a funding freeze that was announced in January of the same year.<\/p><p>Colombia will lose USD 294 million designated for humanitarian action. Several U.S.-funded programs had complementary components, such as economic development and peace initiatives.<\/p><p>By organization type, for-profit enterprises that implemented several USAID programs will be the most affected.\u00a0<strong>NGOs in Colombia will lose USD 216 million in funding.<\/strong><\/p><p>Considering the brief description of the canceled programs, potential impacts can be seen in humanitarian assistance for internally displaced persons, Venezuelan migrants, and host communities, as well as in food security and social cohesion programs.<\/p><p>Likewise, there will be repercussions for programs in health, education, gender-based violence, youth at risk, ex-combatants, and vulnerable communities.
