HONDURAS

Contexto

Honduras faces overlapping risks from high levels of violence and recurrent, climate-related disasters. Hurricanes Eta and Iota alone triggered roughly 937,000 internal displacements in 2020, and more recent estimates point to persistent, large-scale movements driven by violence and natural hazards. NRC ranked the country as the ninth most neglected displacement crisis globally. Persistent poverty exacerbates vulnerability: in 2024, 62.9% of the population lived in poverty. Recent shifts in U.S. and neighboring countries’ migration policies have further constrained cross-border options.

3iS began working in Honduras in 2025 to generate timely evidence on internal displacement through remote data collection, triangulated with secondary sources. We translate findings into actionable products—analytical briefs, dashboards, and infographics—to inform humanitarian actors.

Proyectos en Curso

Since August 2025, 3iS has implemented a project funded by NRC focused on data collection and analysis. Using technology and cost-effective methods, we estimate internal displacement in Honduras with RIWI’s Random Domain Intercept/Engagement (RDIT/RDE). Our analysis also informs protection-risk monitoring. The project covers questionnaire design, close monitoring of data collection, validation against secondary sources, and delivery of dashboards, reports, and infographics.
